The final blog

I think that the blog experience was very nice, I made us talk about topics that we did not want to talk about, like Christianity (thanks democracy), but it also made us talk about very interesting topics like TV shows, Websites and a lot of other things, overall I think that the experience was very nice and it helped me to practice my writing, and to remember how to write in English, the teacher was very sneaky and made us increase the word count with every new blog, But not everything was perfect, when we had time to do the blog in class everything was all right, But when we  had to do the blogs at home… all the laziness in my body screamed that I should study for other things and to not do the blog (and I actually missed one), I think that the blogs should be done in class, so I think that will be better to always have time to do the blogs in class. I think that very nice topics for blogs are pets, the only problem I see with that is that not everybody has a pet, another topic should be traveling but I see the same problem that with the pets.

Your favorite movie

One of the Movies that I like the most is Ocean's Eleven.

The movie is about a guy who gets out of prison, and goes to visit a friend that it is a criminal, the both of them decide to go to las Vegas to rob the money of casino, but they cannot do it alone so they gather a team to rob the casino, the team is very diverse, it includes a Chinese guy who is very athletic, a swindler, and a lot kinds of criminal. To execute the plan they get into a lot of troubles, and they have to create a lot of alternatives plans to do the main plan, they cut the electricity of the whole city, they dress as police officers, they hack the cameras of the casino, they even act as rich guys. The main enemy is the owner of the casino that it is actually very smart and has the police backing him up, but in the end they manage to deceive him, at the end of the movie you can see the protagonist being followed by people that are hired by the casino owner, this leads to the next movie that it is actually very good.   

My favorite show

One of the Shows that I like the most is The Simpsons; it is truly a wonderful show, every time I watch it I can expect to laugh a lot. The story is about an American family, and the life that they live, but this is and special family, the husband is a stupid and alcoholic that always get in the most comic situations, but in the end he is a good person; for me he is the one that gets me to laugh the most, he has a very problematic child that is called Bart he always has problem in school and a daughter that is an honor student, the wife is house wife that is a very good person but it does not get into comics situations.

In the end the Simpsons is a parody of the typical families of the 80s, where the wife where expected to stay at home, and the sons always got into trouble, and it was normal for the husbands to stay the night drinking and go to bowling with his friends; lately the Simpsons has changed a bit and is adapting to the newer times, but it is still funny as ever

      

Career-related website that I like

I like Google Scholar, if you have ever been in a situation when you have to do a serious paper and you need reliable webpages, Google Scholar is your thing!, forget about the not so reliable Wikipedia, Google Scholar will show you only reliable sources, it will show how many people and works have cited the source, Google Scholar will also show you the most cited pages, and you can search webpages in Spanish too. You can also search publications by years, or by relevance, you can also search a specific topic too, if you choose law it will only show you law related things. I use this website every time I have to do a paper, and it´s awesome, before I knew this website I had to do long searches in Google or I had to go to the library (and if you are a lazy person you do not want go to the library), so when I learned about Google scholar, my source search was dramatically reduce. My favorite song

Is kind of hard to decide which song is your favorite one, since I have a lot of favorite ones, I will chose the one that is more related to this class, the song that I choose was Numb from Linking park, this song was released in the second album, Meteora of Linking park and it was released in 2003 (more than ten years ago) and it has sell around 20 million copies.

This was the first real song (that I remember) that I heard in English; the ones that you hear in school do not count, I did not understand what the song was saying but I liked the rhythm, and years later when I could finally understood it (yes, I was too lazy and I never looked the translation in Google), the song reminded me of mi previous self (the time when you are young and try to find yourself), every now and then I listen to the song and I feel a bit of nostalgia, so you should listen to it.   

Religion

Hi, today I should talk about Christianity, first of all, even if I did all the sacraments I am not a Cristian myself, but I have to agree that the influence of Christianity in society is huge, now the influence is not as big as it was before where the countries where ruled by religion, but the church still has a lot of influence left, one of the reasons is that at least in Chile more than half of the people say that they are believers. But lately we are seeing and incredible phenomenon the church is losing it influence. Before saying that something was right because the church said so was a valid argument but now it has almost not weight in public discussion. It would be very interesting to analyze why the Cristian religion has lost it influence         

laptop

First I have to set this straight, I really love technology and between all those marvelous devises my favorite is the laptop. But like all things, this one has a story, If you have been keeping up with my other post you should know that I was in the US for the last 2-3 years, and before I went there I had the bulky and heavy desktop computer, but when I went to the US one of the first thing I bought was a laptop, suddenly the me that did not know anything about English could communicate with my friends in Chile, I could use it to do homework, translate words, and play games.

To be honest not everything about a laptop is perfect; first they are very expensive when you compare it to a desktop computer and they are less powerful, and the main hindrance is that you cannot have a gaming laptop without spending a 1000$ dollars, but the advantages is that you can carry it everywhere and if your electricity is out, and you can have 5 hours of battery life while you wait for the electricity to return, to be truthfully I use my laptop every day but not only for playing I use it for studding too.    

Courses

This term I am taking lots of courses, seven of them actually, but four of them are subjects that everybody that is studying their first year in law in the University de Chile is currently taking, these courses are microeconomic, introduction to law, moral philosophy (I actually had a very hard test today in the morning at 8:00), and history of law. The ones that I choose are nothing especial one of them Institutions of Roman law was recommended by a third year student, the second one is accounting, I picked this course because I want to be a tributary attorney, and the third one English, the reason for taking this course is because I do not want to lose my skills in this language. 

Currently I do not have any extracurricular activities but I do have expectations one of them is to pass all my courses and the other one is to have good grades.        

My Auto Biography

I was born in Santiago de Chile 16 of September of 1994; I Studied my first two years of high school in the Luis Campino School, I lived in Santiago almost all my life until three years ago my mother won a Chilean scholarship to study abroad, so shortly after we departed to state of North Carolina in the United States, there I studied my last 2 years of high school in a school called East Chapel Hill High, after graduation I came back to Chile and I applied to an special admission program for people that studied their high school years abroad, so here I am in the university of Chile studying law.
